My experiences at IUPUI from participating in INShape & the Motor Activity Clinic to creating a year long bodybuilding program has helped me grow on my path towards becoming a full time personal trainer aiming towards PT. These experiences have pushed me out of my comfort zone and allowed me to be more collaborative, resilient, and knowledgeable in the different realms of fitness.

"Fitness-Focused" described the primary goal of the internship, which was to learn about personal training and the fitness industry. " Hands-on" reflects the practical, experiential nature of the program. " Educational" emphasizes learning and gaining knowledge in regard to different aspects of fitness. " Challenging" describes the high expectations set by the program, which pushed me to work harder and strive for excellence. " Rewarding" reflects the sense of fulfillment and satisfaction I gained from helping a client achieve their fitness goals. " Supportive" characterizes the positive and encouraging environment created by the program staff and fellow interns.

Through this experience, I learned the importance of creating effective training plans that are tailored to individual clients' needs and goals. I also learned that building trust with clients is crucial for maintaining motivation and consistency, which are key factors in achieving long-term success. Additionally, I gained a deeper understanding of the business aspects of the fitness industry, which will be valuable for my future career aspirations. What stood out to me was how fulfilling the experience was from building that bond and trust with my client to seeing that progress build overtime. As a whole, the INShape personal training internship was a valuable and transformative experience that taught me many important skills and lessons.

  • Creating the bodybuilding Macrocycle for beginners allowed me to put myself in others shoes and understand what it takes to become a bodybuilder and compete. The risks and rewards that come along with the process allowed me to create a program well equipped to help any beginner on the path towards competing for their first time.
